Ever Think About the Outside of the Bathtub?

When I was in college, I had a house cleaning business.  I loved to clean houses (no, there's nothing wrong with me) and I still enjoy cleaning my own.

One consistent area that most people overlook is the outside of the bathtub.  The same goes for the toilet, yet there's a better chance that someone will clean the outside of the toilet before the outside of the bathtub gets cleaned.

The outside of the bathtub can get really dirty and in many cases be an area for dust collection.

Why might a person forget to clean the outside of his/her bathtub?  Pure function.  Technically, you only use the inside of the tub, so that's where the attention goes (and believe me I am so glad when someone takes the time to clean his/her tub).

It's interesting really, there's so much attention that goes into the part that we think is important, yet the outside of the bathtub serves an important purpose, too.

If we didn't have the outside of the tub, then the water might spill out or we'd have these exposed inner bathtub guts that might cause harm to children (and clumsy adults).  The outside of the tub is our protector, yet many times it lives its entire life without any thanks.

Now I'm not here to make you feel bad about your bathtub or make you think it has feelings - however - I see the outside of the bathtub as a metaphor for our "inside"  care.

Many times, the outside of the person is where all the focus goes (appearance), while the inside often gets forgotten.

I invite you to explore the outside of your bathtub (and if you don't have a bathtub, then just imagine).
How does it reflect a piece of you?  What can you learn from your bathtub?  How might the realization of cleaning your bathtub support you in your life?

I'd love to hear your comments and discoveries.

Read to Laugh?

One of my friends sent me an e-card that had some cartoon characters that are new to me.

Click here and be transported to Hoops & Yoyo.  On their home page you can play with various ways they fall and funday.

Yes, it might be a bit odd, yet it lifted my spirits.

Enjoy!

How do you raise your own energy?  What does it do for you to have some instant "energy raisers" in your back pocket?

I'd love to hear your comments and discoveries.  :)

Need to Know What's Open 24 Hours a Day?

Ever need something at 2am?  Let's say you're sick and you don't know which drug stores are open all night.  What do you do?

Enter 2itch.com - this site lists businesses that stay open 24 hours a day.  Just type in your address and you'll be given a list.

The site is in its early stages, so it may not have all of the businesses in your area - however - new locations are being added daily.

There's also an "add" function where you can add places that are 24 hours that aren't currently listed.  If you're really into this site, then you can be sure to let others know the 24 hour spots (like vets, emergency dentists, etc.) that might be helpful in a pinch.

If you put your mouse over the pull chain portion at the top of the page, you will see a drop down menu of categories.

Is this site perfect?  No.  Is this site useful?  It can be.  Who knows - one night this site might come in handy (especially if you need something early in the morning hours before most stores open).

How does having a "reference guide" support you?  What area of your life would you like to have a reference guide to search?  How would it support you?

I'd love to hear your comments and insights.

Insider Information For Flying

Would it be of value to you to know the true value of your airline experience?

We sometimes base our flight value based solely on price, yet it is important to include all factors that can add up to a positive flying experience.

For example, there are certain airlines that I will not fly due to their "lost luggage record" (coupled with my own experience of the airline losing my luggage as well).  Other airlines are not of interest to me because my knees rub the seat in front of me (and I'm only 5'4").

On the flip side, there are are several airlines that I will fly because of the positive flying experience.  I love Southwest for numerous reasons - price, service, reliability, comfort, customer service, etc.

When flying outside of the United States, I'm first in line for Singapore Airlines, Delta & SAS.  Comfort is a major factor when I'm going to be on a plane for five or more hours.

Enter Inside Trip, which compiles statistics on nearly every factor that makes for a good flying experience - from on-time ratings to legroom in the cabins - and gives each flight a score from 1 to 100.

When you search for a flight on Inside Trip, each flight has its own score - which you can control in your results by checking  or unchecking boxes that let you decide what factors are important to you when you fly.

I thought it would supportive to share this information in time for the holiday travel season.

How does being able to choose your priorities when flying support you?  How will you recognize your flying priority preferences?

I'd love to hear your comments and discoveries.

I wish everyone a safe holiday travel season.

Human Compassion & Proposition 8

If you do not live in California and have not heard about Proposition 8 then here's a quick rundown.   Proposition 8 was put on the November ballot to ban gay marriage and any and all rights of same sex couples (sadly, prop 8 passed which will ban gay marriage and any same sex couple rights).

No matter where you stand on the issue, I found this commentary by Keith Obermann to be sincere, heartfelt and loving.  He takes a human approach to this issue and gets to the heart of the matter.

I am not using my blog as a political forum.  I wanted to share something that looks at people as...people.

How can looking at something through the filter of humanity support you?  What would it look like to see everyone as human (the man that yells at you in traffic, the grumpy cashier, etc.)?

I'd love to her your comments and discoveries.
